It was a Friday evening and I was at the gym sweating it out on a treadmill. I knew my girlfriend’s mom was coming into town that day and expected her to go out and have dinner, possibly calling me later to see what was going on. I didn’t expect an urgent text stating, “Come to dinner, my mom really wants to meet you.” I told her where I was and how tough it would be to shower, clean up and get ready in time but she wasn’t having it. Rushing home, I showered jumped out, threw some clothes on and by the time I was snapping a watch onto my left wrist they were waiting downstairs.
I went down met mom and got in the back seat of the car. It wasn’t long before my girlfriend looked back and asked if I’d showered. Way to throw me under the bus. Nodding, it became clear I should have sprayed men's cologne fragrace. Pretty much any first impression is best paired with perfume and cologne. Her mom never complained about my gym scent but it was there. Dinner went well but could have been better with the men's cologne fragrace.
