perfume and cologne, eau perfumeLast night I was messing about on the web when I found and watched an old documentary called The Story of the Human Senses. This documentary got me thinking about perfume and cologne products and the fundamental reason why so many of us like to wear them. Part of the documentary showed how we use information we perceive from our five senses to make judgments and decisions. For example we use our nose to indentify smells and make decisions based on whether they are good or bad. We also use our memories as a system of reference to help identify the smell.
When we wear perfume and cologne products those who meet us are more likely to make favorable decisions and judgments about us based on the fact that what they smell is pleasing to them. The opposite is also true. If an individual we are introduced to smells not like cologne perfume but something unpleasant such as stale body odor we are more likely to make unfavorable decisions and judgments about that person.  Watching this documentary and thinking about our perception of perfume and cologne products made me feel relieved that I use a nice eau perfume every day.
